ABOUT

Keegan's Point Kennel

I have worked for the Department of Justice over 30 years and my wife Brenda has worked in the Radiology field over 30 years as well. We have owned dogs since 1996, and acquired our first Small Munsterlander in 2004 and haven’t looked back. We fell in love with the breed and also the fellowship of the individuals in the Small Munsterlander Club of North America organization.

Our goal is to have select breedings that will produce high performing hunting dogs with excellent conformation and coat, along with being loyal family companions; thereby, promoting a true representation of the breed in North America.

My first Small Munsterlander was Crabtree’s Chopper Davidson; call name Keegan. I was blessed to have a dog like Keegan in my life. He was a special dog who had the ultimate desire to hunt and to please his owner. Keegan performed at an optimal level at any hunting test or competition. He achieved the pinnacle title of Versatile Champion in the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA). He was the 7th Small Munsterlander to achieve this title. He was also the first Small Munsterlander to earn the United Kennel Club (UKC) Hunting Retriever Water Title. The only other Small Munsterlander to achieve this title is our female, Quina Vom Forstweg. Keegan also won other hunting competitions in the Ohio Valley region and always represented the breed in a high standard. Every year Keegan also provided a pointing and retrieving demonstration for approximately 550 children and their families. He loved the attention, and I would allow few interested kids to handle Keegan and he would perform for them as he would for me. Keegan was inducted in the Small Munsterlander Club of North America Hall of Fame in 2012.

We imported Quina Vom Forstweg from Germany in April 2012. Quina comes from a highly reputable German kennel that routinely produces high quality hunting dogs. Quina has a very impressive pedigree and has performed as such. Quina has a Utility Preparation Score of Prize 1, and Utility Test Score of Prize 1, and competed for the Versatile Champion Title in September 2016. She also earned her UKC Hunting Retriever Water Title in 2016, being the second Small Munsterlander to achieve this title; the first being Keegan.

I mention the above information to emphasize the importance of selected breeding; thereby, presenting the best opportunity to produce the dogs of the above quality, which is the goal of our kennel.
